Your suffering is neither unique nor great.

You are just a whiner.

You are not misunderstood.

To be misunderstood, an effort to be understood is required.

Admit it, you just like it when people look at you.

Join the fold and get a fucking push-up bra, already.

Ok ok ok… I’m offically flipping my shit over FF now that I’ve picked my films.

I’m looking forward to ODing on gore, zombies, J-horror, and indulgent fear for an entire week. I will be posting reviews of the movies as I see them :)

Digital camera

I purchased my first digital camera today.

Skip the WHAAAA? reaction.  I’m not afraid of technology, or dependent on 4×6 prints, or anything like that.  I’ve just always lived with somebody who owned a camera, so I never needed to buy one.

Well, since the Falling Out, I haven’t had access to a camera other than the PoS installed in my cell.  It sucks.  There’s nothing about it that doesn’t suck.  Digital zoom, 1.6 megapixel, and pay-per-download shots.  So I got stuck paying $0.25 per lousy picture that I wanted to use.

I am not, by any means, particularly versed in purchasing digital cameras, and my knowledge of cameras themselves is somewhat limited.  Albeit far from the digital SLRs used by my more savvy friends, I’m pretty happy with my purchase.

For under $100, I found a 4.5 star rated, pocket-sized, 4x optical zoom, 5 megapixel camera.  It will go full auto or full manual, and comes with a number of presets for soccer moms.

So expect some pictures of my drive to Massachusetts included in my live blog of the event!  Hooray!

Go, Amazon, go.

Offically sick of the reunions

Yo! People! There have been a lot of reunions happening lately (many of which in the past week).

JC: …well, you know. I can’t help but hope it won’t always be like this.

Courtney: I have no words for how much I missed you. We have a symbiosis of crazy.

Joey: I’m so happy to have reconnected with you, and I look forward to chillin’ in MA sometime soon.

And that’s where the happy ends.

Zach: It freaks me the fuck out that I found you twice. You seem like a total mess, and I’m glad I didn’t jump on that sinking ship.

Kael: It. Is. Time. To. Give. It. Up. It was almost a year ago, man.

Deesh: Pretty random. We never really talked all that much. Despite how pretty you are, its gonna stay that way.

Diane: Fuck off. No, really. I mean it. I meant it. And I’ll say the same when you call me next time.

Oh, Alamo Drafthouse, the things you do to me!

Of all things Austin, I may miss the Alamo Drafthouse most.

Named Best Cinema in America by Entertainment Weekly, Drafthouse hosts the randomest shit along with mainstream movies, all while serving you draft and bottled beers from a less modest selection (best selection is at the Lake Creek location — I suggest trying Rogue Dead Guy Ale or Stone IPA) than some bars, and feeding you tasty treats ranging from fried pickles, to creme brulee, to pizza.

One of my fondest memories of Drafthouse was the rolling roadshow sneak preview of Serenity hosted in an old west town outside of Austin. It was hot, and dusty, and awesome. Summer Glau and Jewel Staite attended live and took questions after the screening.

I missed the premier of The Fountain at last year’s Fantastic Fest and almost cried. I had learned about it far too late. That’s the price you pay for not being a total webdork, I guess.

Well, its time for Fantastic Fest again, and its happening the week before I move away. I’m seriously debating shelling out the $110 to go. As described on the FF site:

Fantastic Fest is a week-long festival featuring the best in new science-fiction, fantasy, horror, animation, crime, Asian, and all around badass cinema. The event was created to offer exposure to genre films which are often overlooked by the traditional festival circuit. We strive to offer acquisition, media and exhibition opportunities for undistributed films as well as to spotlight upcoming genre theatrical releases and give audiences a chance to see 35mm prints of repertory classics.
